Leaders of Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa today announced the recipients of the 2015 American Cancer Society (ACS) seed grant awards.

The award recipients are:

  • Kin Fai Au, Ph.D., assistant professor, Internal Medicine: $30,000 for studying the detection of recurrent fusion genes from breast cancer
  • Kenneth Nepple, M.D., clinical assistant professor, Urology: $30,000 (second year of funding) to continue development of a Comprehensive Malnutrition Assessment Program (CMAP) prior to cystectomy for bladder cancer

These awards are made to junior faculty members and independent research scientists to initiate their careers in cancer research and to provide them with funds for the purpose of exploring new ideas related to the cause, prevention, and therapy of cancer.
